A friend showed me this video last weekend. What a gem. Remember videos? When they were good, like this one, the instant you heard the song the video would pop into your head. That keeps happening to me with this song now.

Remember when you could watch videos for hours on end? I'm sure there are still good videos being made, but I never see them. I grew up watching the birth of MTV, when it was good it was good. I used to dig it anyway.

My favorite video memories (if I were more on top of it, I would link them all here, but that just isn't going to happen); Genesis - Land of 1,000 Dances. A-Ha, of course. Foo Fighters - Learn to Fly. The White Stripes Lego video. The Cars video where Ric Okasek is a fly. Nirvana - Smells Like teen Spirit. I'm sure there are more, but these are the ones that come to mind right now.

Weezer Finishing Up Sixth Album

After a year’s hiatus while front man Rivers Cuomo completed his English degree at Harvard, Weezer has decided to step back into the studio to put the final touches on the group’s sixth studio album. Yet to be titled, the album is set to be released early next year.

Cuomo himself confirmed the news with a post on the band’s website:

“Hey Party-People,Weezer is just polishing up a batch of songs for a recording session that is going to start at the beginning of July. This will be the final recording session for our 6th album which we aim to put out in the first half of 2008.

We hope you are all having good times.

DiFranco Reinvents Oldies On New Retrospective

Singer/songwriter Ani DiFranco has re-recorded five old songs for inclusion on an upcoming retrospective, "Canon." Due Sept. 11 via Righteous Babe, the 35-song set sports new renditions of "Napoleon," "Shameless," "Your Next Bold Move," "Both Hands" and "Overlap" recorded with bassist Todd Sickafoose and drummer Allison Miller.

The balance of "Canon" features material from throughout DiFranco's 16-year-career, including favorites such as "Coming Up," "Untouchable Face," "32 Flavors" and "Cradle & All." On the heels of her 2006 studio album "Reprieve," DiFranco will be back on the road for select dates this summer, beginning July 11 in San Diego. As previously reported, she will also play a July 18 benefit for Celebrate Brooklyn at Prospect Park in the New York borough.
