Hey, sorry about the age thing. For some reason, I thought the picture of the twenty-somethin' looking gal at the top of your blog was you. Upon closer examination, I realize now that it isn't!
Never meant to raise hackles and am certainly not dismissing your opinions. My main objective actually was to use your comment regarding the current state of music in Reno as a way to frame my little piece about 1moe.com. My editor killed my totally boring headline, something like "1moe.com brings good music to Reno", or something like that, with the much more inflammatory one that ran.
Anyway, I hear ya about some of the outrageous prices in this town. 1moe finally did come out with their summer schedule, and with prices in the neighborhood of $40-50, I'll probably have to pick just a couple shows that I want to see. And Silver Legacy shows are out of the question.
In the 6 or 7 years that I've been seeing area shows and reading and writing about local entertainment, things have just been getting better and better, *in my opinion*. I think the most improvement can be seen in North Tahoe, especially at the Crystal Bay Club, when the new owners took over and made a point of bringing great alt.country and blues to town, and Renegade Productions brings awesome jam bands and reggae to the North Shore. MontBleu has had some amazing shows, with some great ones scheduled for later, but to tell the truth, I only go to MontBleu if I'm comped. I've been to some really fun shows at Whiskey Dick's and Tahoe Underground, too.
Hope to see ya around at some totally outrageous, totally inexpensive show sometime!
