The Search

A new Son Volt cd came out this week. Woot! I've given it a few spins, and I have to say that I like it! Shocker, right? I wonder ... what would it take for me not to like a Son Volt cd? Things that make you go hmmm...

I first heard the single "The Picture" on and I was a bit taken aback, a horn section? Whoa. The song really grew on me after several listens and I was very curious about what the rest of the album would sound like. Horny? Ba-dum-dum!

It's a bit of a departure for them, but in this case not a bad one. There are still classic Farrar lyrics and riffs here, so don't be afraid. Jay is still as politically charged as ever and kickin' ass!

I am happy to say we have secured tickets to see them at the Fillmore next month! For right now a couple standout tracks on the album for me are; Underground Dream, The Search, Methamphetamine & Highways and Cigarettes, which is a duet with Shannon McNally.

I say, go pick it up!
